A week full of ups and downs and somewhat challenging at times but thanks to my fantastic support team Laura and Clare for all their help over the 5 days, looking after the horses so beautifully and keeping me organised!
The 2017 event season has come to a close, not exactly the end I was hoping for but a great season never the less... 4 horses at Osberton, first of all the lovely 4yo stallion Interlaken W owned by Mrs Nickie Bennell and myself was a complete super star in the championships. A good test of 29, followed by a very unlucky rail and a super clear XC to see him into the top 10 of the competitive age class. Echo P owned by Rachael Sheppard was competing in his first CCI** and had a brilliant start to it. He did a lovely test of 49 with many things to be improved on but showing so much for the future. Trendy Captain Clover owned by Milly Kaye did his personal best at CCI** at still only 7yo he did a very consistent test for 49 also. And so much more to come. Silver Lining X owned by claire Foster was competing in his first CIC**. Sadly not the dressage score I was hoping for, he's come along way and working beautifully on the flat but the combination of the atmosphere and the technicality of the movements was a little too much to be competitive. He went on to jump a fantastic show jump round with just one very unlucky pole. The XC for the 7yo's CIC** was tough and challenging and the rain over night made it particularly tricky ground conditions. We decided not to run Silver Lining and save him for a winter of BSJA and to come out next season and be ever more competitive at ** as an 8yo. He's had a fantastic season and is very exciting for next year.
XC day for the CCI** brought a tough track with 3 tricky combinations. Trendy Captain Clover was on a complete mission and made this track feel very easy, jumping beautifully through the combinations going the direct routes. Sadly caught out just at the end, a green mistake a the C element of the brush corner combination. But I couldn't be happier with how he jumped and finished the 9min 35 course. He came out to jump a beautiful SJ clear on Sunday and finished his season on a great result.
Sadly all didn't go to plan with Echo P, after starting the XC on flying form and on a complete mission when we got to fence 6, two strides out my girth broke!! Continuing to jump the fence and pulling up at 7 was gutting for me and the whole team. He was on such good form but we both came away from what could have been a nasty accident.
I can't thank everyone enough for their support and help over the season both at events and at my home, keeping the horses looking tip top. My amazing Mum, Dad and Sister for their hard work, help and supporting me.
