After a very wet 2012 event season, Ginny and the horses are ready to get going in 2013. Ginny has been showjumping throughout the winter, making the most of the indoor jumping, keeping out of the rain where possible and getting some valuable experience and practice in over the bigger tracks. The young horses are being primed for the start of their careers which looks like it will kick off on the 2nd and 3rd of March at Aston le Walls, which is just down the road from Ginny’s yard.
At the end of last season, Creeslough was upgraded to a CCI** event horse. Loving his new saddle thanks to Bridget at Chatcombe Saddlery, his Childric saddle will help the little 15.3hh horse jump even higher and reach his 2013 goals. Ginny is hoping to take him to another CCI** in the spring and then hope to upgrade him towards the end of the 2013 season.
Eires Rock has proven he has the jump of an Advanced event horse if only he could crack the dressage of an Advanced event horse! Very buzzy and always finding things far too exciting he will continue intense dressage training in hope that he will settle and qualify for Blenheim International Horse Trials in September 2013.
Hamilton will continue his Novice runs and Ginny will aim for a CCI* mid-season. Full of character as always he needs to gain mileage and experience to fulfil his potential which Ginny has very high hopes. He really is one to watch and is very exciting for the future.
There is always plenty to keep Ginny busy over the winter months and she is making the most of having a few horses in to hunt. A particularly fun horse for Ginny to ride this winter has been The Gentle Giant who was bred to show jump. He will be for sale but for now they are having a great time jumping around the countryside, standing at 18hh he makes most fences look pretty small!
Everyone from Ginny Howe Eventing hopes that you have all had a lovely Christmas and wish you a very happy and successful 2013!
