Firstly what an amazing job the team at Aston did with the courses and the ground to ensure the best possible going for our horses.
Day 1, began with the lovely Heros Row. He did a lovely accurate test to score 30.3. He then pinged round the SJ, finding it easy but adding an unlucky rail. He then found the XC equally easy and speeded round inside the time to finish 12th in his section.
Day 2, with the big boys! A really exciting day to say I had 3 talented lovely horses with equally lovely owners all competing in the Advanced!!!
The day began with my own Undalgo De Windsor doing a settled test but yet to nail our flying changes and a couple of mistakes stopping us from scoring the test I know he will be capable of in the future. Although 3 SJ down he jumped rather well but found the newly harrowed and partially rolled areas of the area super scary thinking they were additional obstacles! He then made up for this with a class round XC, feeling straight and bold all the way round!
Next up was the lovely grey Cruise On Inny competing as a 9yo. He did a lovely rideable test and scored a competitive 32 in this phase.
In the SJ arena he had a frustrating few poles after also jumping very well but almost a little too high and not out, being caught out by the particularly wide oxer. However, he then felt like a complete pro XC, he ate up the course to put in a speedy clear round!!
Small but mighty 'Trendy Captain Clover ' aced his first advanced dressage and show jumping. A super accurate test for 34. And the most amazing clear SJ not wanting to touch a pole!! He took on his first advanced XC like a pro but an early 20pen spoilt his super class round. Almost a little too bold at start resulting in me locking my reins and going straight past the angled skinny. Kicking my self still for this, total jockey error as he was just amazing and tried so hard. Making all the tricky combinations feel easy!
So excited for all these lovely horses future!
Thank you so much to William Carey Photography for capturing the special moments and some serious action shots of the boys!
It was so lovely to have so many supporters there for the weekend and huge thanks for all their help!
