WOW what a promising 3 days at Aston Le Walls! With 5 horses, 2 first time advanced and 3 intermediates.
Advanced Boys:
Cruise On Inny, did a great test in his first advanced, a few mistakes but showing so much for the future sccoring 34. He jumped beautifully round the decent track which caused it's fair share of problems just touching the final fence for 4 faults. XC he was flying, giving me a fantastic ride and taking on all the new questions but sadly caught out 3 from home. Lots learnt and he's ready for next time!
Undalgo De Windsor, warmed up beautifully but still not 100% established at Advanced level showing some tension in his test and 'interesting ' flying changes. He went into the SJ and tried so hard, an irritating 2 poles down, which rider error can be blamed as he made it feel easy.
XC he was a total machine, answering every question as if it was our first BE100 together. A steady clear and Blenheim he shall aim!
Intermediate Boys:
Echo P was on great form, a lovely test for 33, despite some confusion ahead of the dressage of which arena we were meant to be in!
He jumped well SJ but 3 poles down annoyingly. On to the XC and he was flying, feeling amazing and we appear to have put the right hand corner blip behind us! Hopefully! A lovely clear round and a happy pony. Silver Lining was fantastic in the dressage today, his best ever test. Really getting the posh trotting sorted, a score of 32 saw him in top placings. A class clear SJ, pinging his way round doing what he knows best.
XC was still only a recent upgrade for him with still fairly little mileage and new questions on the course. Jumping quick and very well but sadly a bit of confusion at a combination resulting in penalties. Never the less he went in top complete and learn from the mistake. All horses have been fab and showing so much promise once everything is consolidated.
Trendy Captain Clover at only 7yo felt fantastic today. After a 33 Dr and his 7th D/C back to back at intermediate/**. He went quick and jumped amazing to finish 4th. Now Hartpury CCI** bound a great final run for him.
A great trip to Calmsden over the weekend with new ride Wilco, a lovely 8yo grey. He did a great dressage and scored 28.5, putting him 2nd after this phase. He then went on to jump brilliantly show jumping and stormed round the XC inside the time to finish 2nd in his section. Next stop for him Smiths Lawn.
A Real Blast is certainly loving her eventing. She warmed up beautifully before her test but then got a little tense in the ring scoring a 36. Then pinging her way round the show jumping for a great clear and equally flying XC and finding it all rather easy. Her next stop Smiths Lawn Novice.
