July has proven to be a month full of progress, especially for the young ones just starting their journey.
Chanuck Z shines at Upton House
A local outing for Chanuck Z at Upton House Horse Trials was a highlight this month. His dressage score of 22.3 was truly impressive, followed by a lovely clear show jumping and a mega run cross country to finish 9th. It was a double clear performance that really showed how much he’s learning with every run.
There’s something special about watching a horse like Tommy develop over time. With each competition, he’s growing more confident and really learning his competitive job. I’m lucky to call Upton House my local event; a big thank you to the team for putting on a wonderful event!
Progress with the babies
At home, this month has been all about nurturing the next generation of eventers. The breaking-in process began for our 3-year-old, Just Ariel FW, under the expert supervision of Lauren Robson. It’s such a rewarding journey watching a young horse learn and develop, and Ariel is coming along beautifully.
We also saw great progress with NoSignalFW, our 2021 foal by Interlaken W. This boy really does have the most wonderful temperament and a willingness to learn that makes the process such a joy. He’s taken every new experience in his stride, from ground work to his first canter around the arena. He was brilliantly piloted by Claud Weller for his first experience of being let loose around the whole arena and you could see he hadbenefitted from with all the ground work done by Lauren, giving him the best introduction to long reining, tack and exposure to life! The three of us certainly make a great team, it must nearly be in double figures for the number of breakers we have done together. Ace, will now head out with his friends to grow and eat lots of grass until next year.
I just love seeing how the babies progress day by day. It’s so special to be able to give them the best start in life and follow their journey to hopefully great things!
